JOMO’s Favourite Vegan Treats For an Alcohol-Free Veganuary

Trying Veganuary and Dry January at once? Then I’m sure at least one person has said something to you like “does that mean you will only eat lettuce and drink water?”

Little do they know of the huge selection of delicious vegan treats and alcohol-free tipples that exist. Let’s put it this way, you can still live out an incredibly indulgent lifestyle, whilst eating vegan and reducing or avoiding alcohol.

We are here to show you how you can enjoy an alcohol-free Veganuary with some of our favourite vegan and alcohol-free treats.

What is Veganuary?

But first of all, what is Veganuary? The Veganuary challenge is to follow a vegan lifestyle for the 31 days of January. That means avoiding consuming anything made from animal products, including but not limited to meat, dairy, eggs, leather, and much more.

The aim of Veganuary is to help people evaluate their relationship with animal-related products. After a month of avoiding these products, many people do feel like they can reduce the amount of animal-related products that they consume, even if they don’t fully turn vegan.

The overall aim of reducing the consumption of products made using animals is twofold. One reason is that following a vegan lifestyle is far friendlier for the climate and could really contribute to a future with less severe impacts from climate change. But it is also to end animals suffering for our consumption.

So now you know what it is, here are some of our favourite vegan treats, both snacks and alcohol-free Veganuary drinks.

Our Favourite Alcohol-Free and Vegan Treats

1. Candy Kittens

Candy Kittens have some of the tastiest vegan sweets out there. They really have the right chewiness levels that are sometimes tricky to find in vegan sweets. With flavours like Sour Watermelon, and Raspberry and Guava, these are perfect for the sweet lovers out there. And they are shaped like cats! What more could you possibly want?!

2. Crossip Drinks

Crossip have now released four different alcohol-free spirits and the best news? Every single one of them is vegan!

Choose from Fresh Citrus, Dandy Smoke, Pure Hibiscus and Rich Berry, and let your imagination run wild. You can create all sorts of delicious vegan and alcohol-free cocktails with these four alcohol-free spirits. Who said being vegan and not drinking is boring?

3. Love Corn

Love Corn is the perfect healthy, vegan, gluten-free replacement for crisps. They are deliciously flavoured corn kernels that you can endlessly snack on.

Love Corn currently offers the following six flavours:

  • Sea salt

  • Salt and vinegar

  • Cheese and onion

  • Smoked BBQ

  • Habanero

  • Chocolate

These are the perfect snack to nibble on whilst enjoying an alcohol-free wine or beer. Just be careful, they are very moreish!

4. Noughty Sparkling Wine

Speaking of wine - we have to include an alcohol-free, vegan wine in the list. A little-known fact is that a lot of wine is not vegan. Animal products, including milk protein, egg whites and fish bladder extract are often used in the process of fining, making many wines unsuitable for vegans.

Noughty alcohol-free wine, is, however, completely vegan. So you can sit back and sip your glass of alcohol-free wine safe in the knowledge that it is vegan and better still, it doesn’t contain alcohol so you won’t get a nasty hangover in the morning.

Noughty wines sell three different types of alcohol-free wines, so you can choose from Sparkling Chardonnay, Sparkling Rosé, Dealcoholised Rouge or all three if you can’t quite decide which to try first.

5. Hippeas

Hippeas are organic and vegan chickpea puffs, and they are a delicious snack. They come in six different flavours, and you can even get them in multi-packs making the perfect lunchtime or picnic food.

The following flavours are available, and are all vegan:

  • Sweet and smokin’

  • Salt and vinegar

  • Take it cheesy

  • This isn’t bacon

  • Sriracha chilli

  • In herbs we trust.

These delicious bite-sized puffs are the ideal healthy snack to pair with an alcohol-free drink when you have friends over, are watching tv or just want to relax.

6. Sentia - GABA 0% Spirit

Sentia Gaba is a very interesting alcohol-free drink. It has been designed to release the neurotransmitters in your brain that make you feel good. They claim that drinking this will make you feel like you are at the two-drink sweet spot from alcohol, but you are not consuming alcohol and getting any of the negative effects.

Available in berry flavour, and completely vegan, this is an alcohol-free drink to try out and enjoy during your alcohol-free Veganuary challenge.

7. Kings Veggie Jerky

As a vegan the only protein you used to be able to get on the go was nuts. But now there are so many new, protein-rich, vegan meats for on-the-go. And one of the best is the King’s veggie jerky.

Don’t be misled by the name, this is fully vegan and is delicious and chewy, whilst providing protein on the go. It is available in two flavours: The black bean sauce flavour and Smokey bacon jerky.

8. Lyres Ready to Drink Mixes
