JOMO At The Good Food Show 2022

Written by Kathryn Stone

Last November JOMO exhibited at The BBC Good Food Show and was a huge hit. We talked to so many different people from completely different walks of life, who were all excited about alcohol-free drinks.

Which Drinks Did We Offer?

Over the three-day event, we served over 1,500 alcohol-free drinks. We even ran out of some of our favourites due to the high demand. So what did we bring with us to show you exactly how great the world of alcohol-free drinks is?

Well, we brought a whole range of different drinks for people to try. That way people with tastebuds across the spectrum could find a drink they like. Because let's face it, even with alcoholic drinks we don’t all like everything.

So this was the menu:

  • Myth White Cane Coconut Spirit;

  • Dark and Stormy made with the Myth Spiced dark Cane spirit and Gimber;

  • Sentia Spirits Red drink and the Crossip Rich Berry spirit to make festive, seasonal, winter drinks;

  • Brunswick Aces alcohol-free gin and tonic;

  • Highball ready-to-drink Mojitos;

  • Noughty Sparkling Chardonnay (which everybody wanted to try);

  • Anon Drinks Christmas Pudding Spirit.

What Did People Think?

The response to our alcohol-free bar was overwhelming and made us so grateful to do what we do. So many people enjoyed the drinks and felt like they had discovered a whole new world of exciting drinks.

We had people talk to us who were fully sober, some who were sober curious or mindful drinkers. Others just wanted to cut down on their drinking. Some people simply wanted a replacement drink for those occasions when they had to drive or were taking antibiotics.

Data collected by the IWSR, leading experts in alcoholic beverage trends worldwide, suggests that some 49% of adults in the UK are looking to cut down their alcohol intake. Talking to people at the Good Food Show really demonstrated the different reasons for this.

We talked to Millenials who were bored of getting hangovers and no longer wanted to waste the day after drinking. They were excited to still be able to drink delicious, interesting drinks, without the threat of a hangover.

We met people who don’t drink alcohol due to religious reasons, many of whom had never had a cocktail before. Alcohol-free drinks open up a whole range of, previously unavailable drinks for them to try.

There were older people who told us that they couldn’t join their partner for a nighttime glass of wine or a nightcap because they were on medication. After discovering alcohol-free drinks, suddenly they can continue nighttime rituals once again.

We spoke to pregnant people who just wanted a gin and tonic to relax and feel good, but cannot drink whilst they are pregnant. Alcohol-free drinks mean that they can still drink the same, or similar drinks to relax, without having to worry about the baby.

Talking to so many people who were excited about what the world of alcohol-free drinks has to offer was really a highlight of our year, so thank you to everyone who did talk to us.
