6 Lucky St Patrick’s Day Alcohol-Free Drinks

St Patrick’s day is one of the days of the year most renowned for drinking alcohol. What originated as a feast to mark the death of Irish patron saint Patrick, has become a day of parades, parties, shamrocks and booze. So what if you want to join in the fun but don’t want to drink copious amounts of alcohol?

Then we have you covered with some fun and festive alcohol-free St Patrick’s day drink recipes. We have St Patrick’s day cocktails and St Patrick’s day green drinks for you, so you can have a great day with no hangover, and no need for lots of alcohol.

1. Alcohol-Free Green Beer

Sure this drink might be ever so slightly gimmicky, but hey, it’s St Patrick’s day and the theme is green. This is the perfect way to make your standard alcohol-free beers fit the occasion and the method is simple, all you need is some green food colouring.

Simply add some green food colouring to your chosen alcohol-free beer and you have a green-coloured non-alcoholic beer to enjoy. And, what’s more, you can use this trick with any drink and any colour depending on the occasion. I will tell you this for free, drinking unusual coloured drinks does somehow trick your brain into thinking it's more exciting!

2. Black Velvet Cocktail

The Black Velvet alcohol-free cocktail is a classic celebration of Guinness, in the form of a cocktail. This can be made in two ways: the traditional Black Velvet cocktail, or the “poor man’s” Black Velvet cocktail, otherwise known as the snakebite.

Ingredients

  • 0% Guinness

  • Noughty’s alcohol-free sparkling Chardonnay

  • Alcohol-free dry cider - we recommend Smashed 0%

Method

  1. Half-fill a flute with 0% Guinness.

  2. Slowly top this with half a glass of chilled Noughty or non-alcoholic cider, depending on which tickles your fancy more!

3. Guinness Irish Floats

What’s the best dessert/drink you can have on St Patrick’s day? Anything with Guinness in it basically! So here is the perfect, creamy, Guinness-filled dessert drink.

4. Green Bloody Mary

The Bloody Mary is a classic cocktail, and easy to turn into an alcohol-free cocktail. But, although it is named after a previous monarch of England and Ireland, it doesn’t feel very St Paddy’s appropriate. That is unless you make the green variant of a Blood Mary.

This recipe can be made with a range of ingredients, so you really can use what you have on hand.

Ingredients (for 2 drinks)

  • 3 medium-sized green tomatoes
