Refresh And Invigorate Your Body And Mind With Sparkling Iced Tea

A cold glass or jug of iced tea on a Summer’s day. There is nothing more refreshing.

Tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world and has been consumed for thousands of years. Thought to have originated in China but now associated with many UK traditions such as afternoon tea, it became popular in the 18th century when tea tax was reduced.

Not only English Breakfast or Early Grey tea. The herbal tea menu and offerings are rapidly expanding and many are now using tea infused in mocktails or to create syrups to add greater depth and body to the cocktail.

In JOMO Club’s June Box (and to celebrate the platinum jubilee), we welcomed R-Chi the first ever UK grown natural sparkling iced tea brand.

R-Chi have created to flavours meaning you have everything you need in one can to take to your Summer picnics and BBQs.

Starting with Earl Grey infused with blackcurrant and then moving onto the Manuka infused with ginger, turmeric and lemon, R-Chi uses British grown tea with British Manuka leaves from Cornwall resulting in a healthy alcohol-free drink filled with flavour.

Wait till you hear about the story behind the tea though.

Founder Archie (R-Chi - get it?) grew up on the first UK tea estate in Cornwall and born the same time as when the tea was first planted. ‘Tea has been a big part of my life and what you are able to do with it is amazing albeit I am not the biggest fan of hot drinks.’ When working on a tea stand during Summer at an outdoor event, Archie kept being told they didn’t want hot tea on such a hot day and that’s when the idea came to make the first English grown iced tea.

How do you serve it?

Over ice or chilled is the best way to drink it straight but pairing the Manuka with rum alternatives such as Marie Laveau or Caleño or juniper drinks such as Bax Botanics, Mahala or Pentire works great too!

Are there any health benefits?

Well yes. With turmeric and ginger being key ingredients and their health benefits well documented, this drink is a good choice for this. They are also low in sugar using natural fruit juices and powders and absolutely no preservatives.

We also heard a few rumours about the queen drinking R-Chi so we went to the source to find out the truth!

‘Hahaha, who knows what the queen actually drinks but I can tell you, I buy the tea from Tregothnan Tea where Prince Philip once planted his own tea bush.’

You can explore R-Chi’s range for yourself on their website. Let’s get this par-tea going!
