Our JOMO Blog Writer’s Top Alcohol-Free Picks

By Kathryn Stone

There are over 500 alcohol-free spirits available on the market. That gives consumers a huge amount of choice. It can be hard to decide on which alcohol-free drink to try first. So, after a summer of sipping on fantastic alcohol-free cocktails, I decided to help you out with a compilation of my current top five alcohol-free drinks.

Who am I? I am Kathryn and I write for the JOMO Club. I had to give up alcohol for health reasons. Since then, I have enjoyed exploring the world of alcohol-free drinks. And, I’ll be honest with you, my list of alcohol-free favourites does change every few months. So here are my current top five alcohol-free beverages.

1. Savyll Beverage Company Bellini

The Savyll Bellini is one of my favourite alcohol-free drinks out there. This pre-mixed drink is light and refreshing. It has a delicious mix of dry alcohol-free prosecco and peach. The peach does not taste artificial, in fact, it tastes incredibly fresh. As I wrote in my tasting notes, this Bellini is “tasty, tasty!”

Ideal for a warm summer or autumnal day, the Savyll Bellini comes ready to drink from a can so is a low-effort drink, perfect for bringing with you on a picnic. That said, if you serve the Savyll Bellini over ice, the flavours really pop.

Savyll’s Bellini is alcohol-free, gluten-free, vegan and made from entirely natural ingredients. It contains less than 5g of sugar per 100g. This means that you can enjoy a delicious, refreshing drink without having to worry about any unhealthy side effects!

2. Fluere Raspberry Spirit

When you first open a bottle of the Fluere Raspberry Spirit you are immediately met with a fruity, sweet smell. But it is not overpowering. And this experience continues when you taste it.

Mixed with a classic tonic (I used 12 Below Classic Tonic) this provides another light and refreshing drink. It has a strong and fresh raspberry flavour and is very fruity, but not overly sweet. Overall, it provides a very gentle taste, but there is a little kick at the end, which helps to make it feel as if you are drinking alcohol. This comes from the zing of lime peel and the bitterness of the juniper berries.

Fluere’s Raspberry alcohol-free spirit is a versatile spirit and can be used in many different alcohol-free cocktails. Mixed with mint leaves, lime and simple syrup it can make a delicious Raspberry Mojito. Or if you prefer a simpler drink, then try a Raspberry Fluere and tonic. You can elevate this by muddling frozen raspberries in the bottom of the glass!

3. Myth Dark Spiced Rum

Myth makes two different alcohol-free rums, and they both taste great. That said, the dark, spiced rum is my favourite. It has a slightly spiced and smoky taste which, with a mixer, really gives you the flavour profile of rum. This comes from the ginger and black pepper which help give a slight kick to the spirit. This is well balanced by the warm and smooth vanilla.

Myth has also managed to create a more viscous spirit, meaning that it coats your mouth in the same way that alcohol does, which, really adds to the drinking experience.

Myth’s Dark, Spiced Rum is delicious mixed with ginger ale or cola (for example Fritz or Karma cola), but it also works perfectly in alcohol-free cocktails like the Cuba Libre and Dark ‘n’ Stormy.

The Myth Coconut Cane White Spirit does deserve a favourable mention. This Spirit has a strong coconut flavour, is very sweet and smells like cake. It is the perfect spirit to use when making a Pina Colada, or, for a more basic drink, mixed with pineapple juice.

4. Atopia Spirits Spiced Citrus

The Atopia Spirits Spiced Citrus gives you a delicious, gin-like, drinking experience. It has the perfect thickness and consistency, making it feel like you are drinking an alcoholic gin. But you don’t actually need to compare this spirit to gin, because it is delicious in its own right.

The Spiced Citrus Atopia spirit has a very botanical flavour with a citrussy and juniper aftertaste: delicious and warming! Mix a shot of spiced citrus Atopia spirit with a simple Bermondsey tonic water and ice and you have a refreshing and warming, long botanical drink.

5. Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Rosé

Alcohol-free sparkling wine can often be far too sweet. But the Noughty non-alcoholic Sparkling Rosé is delicious. As soon as you open the bottle you are met with a fresh and fruity smell that already whets your palette. It strikes the perfect balance between fruitiness and acidity, giving it a depth of flavour and nuance that many alcohol-free sparkling wines miss.

Noughty has created the perfect drink for celebratory moments like weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. But it can also be enjoyed during more day-to-day moments! And, you can enjoy it without any guilt because it is completely vegan, gluten-free and made with organic ingredients. It also contains almost half the sugar content of other alcohol-free sparkling wines.
