Top Favourite Environmentally Conscious Alcohol-Free Brands

As the planet warms up and the climate steadily gets weirder many of us are consciously trying to live more sustainably. We aim to make more environmentally friendly consumption choices. But we still want to treat ourselves sometimes. So here are some of our favourite environmentally conscious alcohol-free spirits, so you can enjoy a drink guilt-free.

Some of our favourite environmentally conscious alcohol-free brands include

Bax Botanics

Bax Botanics won the Global Good Award in 2020. This is due to their great care in reducing their environmental footprint and helping make a positive social impact. It is a testament to the fact that, as a brand, they have always aimed to minimise their environmental footprint.

So how do they do it? Well, Bax Botanics use only organic and ethically sourced ingredients. They make sure that in the farming aspect of production, they stay sustainable.

Whilst making the product Bax Botanics uses sustainable energy and minimises water wastage by using a closed water looping system.

On top of that the brand use fully recyclable containers with minimal and sustainable ink, they are fully vegan and even make their labels from the by-product of sugar processing.

Every step of the way Bax Botanics try to work locally, ethically and with consideration for environmental sustainability. Overall, they make delicious alcohol-free spirits that you can definitely include in an eco-friendly lifestyle!

Pentire

Pentire, a Cornish-based alcohol-free spirit brand, aim to minimise the impact on the environment with everything they do. Some of the ways in which they do this are through sustainable ingredients, production and packaging.

More specifically, they use only Fair Trade & Organically Certified ingredients, accredited by the Soil Association and extracted naturally, wherever possible.

Another way they are mindful of the environment is with packaging. All of their packaging is completely plastic-free, 100% recycled and recyclable. Next to that all of their printing is done using waterless technology, and they offset any carbon caused by deliveries.

Pentire has made a commitment to the environment that surrounds them and inspires their drink creations. They are working towards “putting people and the planet at the heart” of what they do.

Everleaf

Everleaf was actually founded by Paul Mathew, a conservation biologist. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that conservation is at the heart of what they do. The name is based on the idea of sustainable use and plant conservation - “forever leaf”.

Everleaf comes at sustainability with a three-pronged attack:

  • Sourcing: Plants used in the drinks are sourced carefully, sustainably and ethically to support the communities and ecosystems in which they are grown.

  • Working: Having fully assessed the lifecycle and sustainability of their products Everleaf fully offset any carbon used with marine, forest and mountain projects. They are fully carbon neutral.

  • Giving back: Everleaf are part of a group which commits to giving over 1% of their turnover per year to a charity. The chosen charity Everleaf donates to is Fauna & Flora International, which is the oldest conservation charity around, and is where Paul used to work before Everleaf took off.

Freestar alcohol-free beer, 0.0%

Freestar alcohol-free beer are a relatively young company. They have a strong focus on giving back to the community and working sustainably. Most notably, they have developed a method to create alcohol-free beer without having to de-alcoholise alcoholic beer.

The de-alcoholisation process is generally very energy-heavy, uses a lot of water and creates a lot of waste. Freestar, with the help of Belgian brewmasters, has spent two years creating a new method to create tasty alcohol-free beer without the need for this. Their new process “ emits 50% less CO2, uses 60% less energy, 75% less water and ends up with 40% less waste”.

As a B Corp company, Freestar has proved that they meet high standards of community and environmental sustainability. And what’s more? They are very open and honest with their scores so anyone can see where they still need work.

Løwlander Wit, 0.00%

Lowlander aims to be an environmentally sustainable company and keeps this in mind whenever making decisions. Part of their sustainability plan includes packing all of their drinks into cans. These are better recycled than PET and are lighter than disposable bottles meaning that when travelling produce fewer emissions.

On top of this, they are also part of the 1% For The Planet project. This means that they pledge to give at least 1% of their profit to environmental charities.
