Celebrating the wild side of nature, one soda at a time

The stinging nettle, also called common nettle, is a weedy perennial plant of the nettle family, known for its stinging leaves. We all remember the times walking as a child ending up with a jaggy leg from standing in the nettles and having to rub a dock leaf to soothe the discomfort.

Well, Hugo, Founder of Nuisance Drinks has a slightly different memory. His childhood was still spent in the Cotswolds nettles, but instead of seeing them as a weed, Hugo and his mother would spend the summers picking the stinging nettles to create a deliciously refreshing nettle cordial. Always seeing the delicious side of nettles and the potential to celebrate the drink on a larger scale, Hugo decided to create Nuisance Drinks.

For those who didn’t get to try out Nuisance’s range in the JOMO February Box, it included both the Nettle Soda and the Bramble & Rosemary Soda. Hugo said, ’We were keen to stick with the theme of plants often considered a ‘nuisance’ and brambles seemed like a perfect addition to the range’.

As our members can testify to, the sodas are not only delicious on their own chilled, over ice or with your favourite alcohol-free spirit, but it turns out Nettles are actually a superfood with great health benefits. Full of goodness including Vitamins (A, C and K and well as several B vitamins), Minerals (Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Sodium’, Fats (Linolenic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid and Oleic Acid) and all of the essentials amino acids. They are also extremely high in protein. If that isn’t enough, Nettles have been shown to reduce inflammation, treat enlarged prostate symptoms, hay fever, eczema, tendinitis, lowers blood pressure and aid blood sugar control.

We love the colours of the Wild Bramble and Rosemary over ice looking just like a Negroni!

One of our favourite combinations to get you started is the Highland Serve.

50ml Feragaia topped with Nuisance Nettle Soda over ice. Sometimes we find when mixing alcohol-free drinks together flavours can be lost, however the Feragaia shines through the Nuisance with the Nettle Soda complementing the drink perfectly to bring out the flavours.

Nuisance are also doing their bit when it comes to business. 1% of profits are donated to Rewilding Britain, the only country-wide UK charity committed to rewilding and the amazing benefits it can bring for people, nature and the climate.

When looking through their Trustpilot, one review reads “So tasty and I really like that its low sugar”, a point that is regularly raised when looking for alcohol-free drinks or mixers.
