Alcohol-Free Cocktails for your Eurovision Watch Party

For the first time in many, many years the UK is hosting the Eurovision song contest. It is set to take place in Liverpool and is being hosted on behalf of Ukraine, who won the 2022 Eurovision song contest. And of course, this calls for Eurovision watch parties across the UK as we all enjoy the camp fun of the competition. And every good Eurovision party needs a range of themed alcohol-free cocktails.

So here are five Eurovision-themed mocktails to sip on whilst you watch everything unfold.

Alcohol-Free French Martini

The French Martini is Mae Muller’s signature drink. So to show our support for the UK’s Eurovision 2023 entry, we will be sipping on an alcohol-free French martini all evening and rocking out to her song “I Wrote a Song”. Fine by us because this mixture of raspberry, pineapple and spirits makes for a delicious alcohol-free cocktail!

Ingredients

  • 2 parts Pentire

  • 1.5 part pineapple juice

  • 0.5 part raspberry syrup

  • Optional: Alcohol-free sparkling wine or sparkling water

Method

  1. Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Strain into a martini glass without ice.

  3. Garnish with a raspberry or a slice of pineapple.

Alcohol-Free Bucks Fizz

The UK has won the Eurovision song contest a total of 5 times since the competition began in 1956. And our next alcohol-free cocktail is dedicated to one of those wins! A good ol’ Bucks Fizz to honour the band Bucks Fizz, who won Eurovision in 1981 with the song Making Your Mind Up.

This is one of the easiest mixed drinks to make but is still delicious. Perfect for hosting a Eurovision watch party!

Ingredients

Method

  1. Pour the orange juice into a champagne glass.

  2. Slowly top with alcohol-free champagne, making sure it doesn’t bubble over the top.

Alcohol-Free Waterloo Sunset

Arguably the most famous Eurovision band ever is Abba. It is their 1974 Eurovision hit song Waterloo that springboarded their path to fame. So any good Eurovision-themed party should have something dedicated to this historical moment. Hence we’ve chosen the Waterloo Sunset, a sweet layered gin alcohol-free cocktail.

Ingredients

Method

  1. In a glass stir the alcohol-free gin and elderflower syrup with ice until cool and then strain into a champagne glass.

  2. Fill the glass with alcohol-free champagne.

  3. Slowly pour the raspberry syrup over the back of a spoon into the glass. This is what should create the sunset effect. You might need to make the syrup a little runnier than usual.

  4. Add raspberries to the top of the glass and enjoy.

Lipstick Cocktail

When thinking about Eurovision you can’t forget Jedward, the iconic singing twins who encapsulate the Eurovision vibe! Jedward represented Ireland with the song Lipstick back in 2011. And that is why we are sharing a Lipstick-themed cocktail.

There are a number of different Lipstick cocktails out there, but this is our favourite, so thanks Jedward for the inspiration.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 shots of Botivo or a bitter aperitif of your choice.

  • 90 ml Noughty

  • 60ml cranberry juice

  • Sparkling/soda water to top

  • 1 sprig rosemary

Method

  1. Add your alcohol-free sparkling wine to a glass and let it settle.

  2. Add the alcohol-free Campari, cranberry juice and ice, then top with sparkling/soda water.

  3. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

Alcohol-Free Chamomile Sour

Måneskin were the iconic winner of Eurovision 2021 with the song Zitti e buoni. After shooting to fame there were false allegations that they had been taking cocaine. The band responded by laughingly saying that frontman Damiano David didn’t even touch alcohol and would be in bed at 10 pm with a cup of chamomile whenever possible!

So to honour Damiano David, the last Eurovision alcohol-free cocktail we want to share in an alcohol-free chamomile sour, a delicious and relaxing twist on the gin sour!

Ingredients

For alcohol-free chamomile gin:

For the mocktail:

  • 1 shot of alcohol-free chamomile gin

  • 0.5 shot alcohol-free dry vermouth

  • 0.5 shot lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp simple syrup

  • 1 egg white

Method

  1. Add the alcohol-free gin and chamomile flowers (you can use tea bags if needed) into a container. Gently stir this and then let it sit for at least five days to get the flavour you would like.

  2. For the mocktail, add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake hard.

  3. Then add ice to the shaker and shake again until cold.

  4. Strain into a glass and garnish with chamomile flowers.
